Few Committee members traveled to the north on 15th of August 2011 for the inauguration ceremony of the Micro Credit Project for IDPs in Vavuniya, Mannar and Mullaittivu Districts.
A meeting of office bearers of the first 10 societies which formed as per guide lines given by NAAL was held at the Buddhist centre in Vavuniya.
A work shop was organized by NAAL for the office bearers to train them. Initial support of LKR 75,000 each was issued to the 10 Micro Credit Societies which had bank accounts as the seed capital. Report on the progress was sent to Drs. Jongens who funded this Project through Nederland Sri Lanka Stichting, with the objectives of make them their own decision makers. 13 villages were selected to implement the progamme by mobilizing the villagers and appropriate Training to identify the needs of the villagers and awareness in implementing the credit dispersion process.
